Festive Gatherings in PA

Lehigh Valley is comprised of the Pennsylvania townships of Allentown, Bethlehem and Easton. With its stunning views, peaceful rural location and endless amount of things to do, it is a beautiful place to live. Those who own an apartment or home in Lehigh Valley look forward to the holiday season each year, as the popular area hosts its countless number of holiday events. If you’re around during the winter months, be sure to check out these awesome, festive get-togethers.

See a Holiday Play

Allentown is known for being the largest municipality of Lehigh Valley, filled with so many attractions and buzz-worthy findings – the holiday season is no different. Every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday in November and December, residents can enjoy a viewing of The Miracle of Christmas at Allentown’s Pine Dinner Theatre. It’s a play about Clara, a young girl from New York City, who sadly forgets the real meaning of Christmas. When she is forced to visit her family in Vermont, her holiday becomes completely unforgettable.

Appreciate the Winter Lights Spectacular

Schnecksville township hosts Lehigh Valley’s annual Winter Lights Spectacular each year, allowing amazed visitors to experience the magic and wonder of the holiday season at the Lehigh Valley Zoo. The entire park is transformed with nearly one million energy conserving holiday lights, musical light shows, holiday movies, visits with Santa Claus and his reindeer, and all the favorite holiday treats you love, turning it into a winter wonderland. Even though children enjoy taking pictures with Santa and having a snowball fight (or two), adults are known to enjoy the fun just as much – if not, more!

Take a Stroll in the Christmas City

Every day of the week – from November 14th through January 8th – a seasonal walking tour takes place through Bethlehem, one of America’s National Historic Landmark Districts. Guests can expect to see tour guides dressed in garments relating to the particular past centuries of Bethlehem, dating all the way back to its establishment in 1741. Fittingly called “The Christmas City” tour, you will see plenty of Victorian and colonial architecture, in addition to the historic landmarks that Bethlehem is still admired for today.

Drive Through a Light Display

Lehigh Parkway in Allentown proudly presents Lights in the Parkway, a drive-through light show that turns Allentown’s most popular park, the Lehigh Parkway, into an entire winter wonderland. Thousands of lights are the main stars of this attraction, although there are other festive displays scattered throughout. The greatest part? You can see the light display from the convenience of your very own car – especially perfect if the weather is a little too chilly. Lights in the Parkway is over a mile long, so once you’ve taken your time and seen it all, don’t forget to check out the synthetic ice skating rink up the street at Perchy Ruhe Park!

Shop at the Christkindlmarkt

Another amazing holiday event that Bethlehem hosts is its annual Christkindlmarkt. A beautiful representation of the historic Christmas street markets that take place throughout the four weeks of Advent, originating in Vienna, Bethlehem’s version has had almost a million guests visit both locally and from afar. The unique gifts, combined with some serious old-world charm and cheer, make the festival one worth attending, with a five-week long run and over 125 vendors per week.
